Silo District Marathon ‘22 in Waco, Texas

A recap on a weekend filled with hope in TX…

On April 22-24th, 2022 we were in Waco, TX for the third annual Silo District Marathon! There was a race for everyone: Kids Run, 5K, Half Marathon, and a USATF-certified Boston Qualifying Marathon. This race began out of friendship between Chip Gaines and Gabe Grunewald in 2017 with the core values of hope, courage, and purpose. And we sure felt a lot of that throughout the weekend! The truck stationed at the Silos filled up with post-it notes sharing each person’s reason “why” they were running. Hundreds of reasons and stories brought us together for a race that started with courage to take the first step.

A few highlights from the weekend include a Brave Like Gabe shake-out run at Waco Running Company, “Running on Hope” temporary tattoos spotted all over the race course, and pre-race yoga session led by Amanda Stetler. We want to especially thank Magnolia for hosting the race and Rabbit, Altra Running, Target, and Discover Woodway for sponsoring this event.

The weekend ended with a $150,000 donation to the Brave Like Gabe Foundation. Brave Like Gabe is honored to be one of the beneficiaries of such a wonderful event. The other charity partner is a local organization called the Waco Community Cancer Association (CCA). Waco CCA works locally to help alleviate the financial burden that cancer treatments, prescriptions, and appointments cause.

Didn’t join us this year? We hope you’ll put this beautiful spring race on your calendar for 2023! And as always, keep running on hope.
