Brave Like Gabe Foundation job openings

Communications + Marketing Manager

The Brave Like Gabe Foundation seeks a creative and driven individual passionate about building community through storytelling and communications. This position will lead and implement an overall communications strategy to drive community engagement, showcase our impact, and increase our fundraising capacity. This person will also be responsible for content creation across several platforms including MailChimp, Squarespace, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok. The ideal candidate will bring energy and empathy, and be a skilled writer and creative lead.

The mission of the Brave Like Gabe Foundation is to support rare cancer research and empower all cancer survivors through physical activity. Through storytelling and partnership, the Foundation has built a community of support with joy and hope, and as a result, we have made more than $2.4M in research grants since 2018. We are expanding our work with survivors and physical activity and we are approaching our ten year anniversary. Our goal is to do more - more storytelling, more fundraising, more movement, and more research.

Our culture is values-driven, drawing on Gabe’s legacy of hope to guide our decisions and strategy. We bring our lived experiences to the work as staff, volunteers, funders, and friends, and we welcome a new voice at the table. As a currently white-led organization, we believe strongly in shifting the power in philanthropy, honoring the knowledge and expertise of our grantees, and educating our community on issues of rare cancers as they impact underrepresented populations.

Brave Like Gabe is dedicated to not only ensuring our staff and volunteers have been trained to understand social context, create positive inclusive environments, and build genuine relationships, but also to ensure that our staff and volunteers reflect the diverse and vibrant communities we work with. Therefore, we strongly encourage applications from all backgrounds and lived experiences, including Cancer Survivors, Black and African-Americans, African immigrants, Asian-Americans, Indigenous people, people with disabilities, Latinx individuals, and LGBTQ-identified people.
